One thing I missed a lot after going vegan was eating creamy soft-serve. While gelato is absolutely delicious as well, it’s just not the same as decadent, milky soft-serve, right?
Back in Germany, I have never seen a plant-based version of it, so I am very happy that in Japan it exists! In this post, I am going to share 7 places for yummy vegan soft-serve in Tokyo with you.
V = Vegan, VG = Vegetarian, NV = Non-vegan & non-vegetarian
Rainbow Bird Rendevous (V)
Nakameguro
The vegan café Rainbow Bird Rendevous in Nakameguro has amazing soft-serve that comes in three different flavours: vanilla, coffee and a mix of the two! The base is soy milk and cashews and instead of white sugar agave syrup and maple syrup are used, yum! Everything is organic and pestecide-free and made in-store.
I personally tried their vanilla soft-serve which was super rich, creamy and absolutely delicious! In fact, it was so good that I ate two in a row!
The best thing: You can even order their soft-serve online!

You absolutely have to they the vegan soft serve at Medel Deli in Ebisu!
It’s made with cashews and therefore is super creamy! It comes in varous flavours and all of them are vegan! You can get plain soft serve, or topped with chocolate, hemp, espresso coffee affogato, black sesame red bean paste or inner beauty juice.
I chose one topped with chocolate sauce which was the best I ever had. It remindet me on the non-vegan soft-serve with chocolate sauce at McDonalds I used to eat as a child.
They also have lots of other vegan options like smoothies, smoothie bowls, anpan with butter or muffins!
Not everything is vegan, but vegan options are clearly labeled. All soft ice cream is vegan.

They come with different toppings like for example caramel or berries.
I chose the caramel one which tasted absolutely heavenly! The creamy soft serve was topped with a salty caramel sauce and there was crunchy granola on the bottom.
They also have soft-serve sundaes which are kind of like parfaits. I had one that was a seasonal spcial with pinaple!
They also have vegan cakes and some main dishes, some items are even gluten-free!
